Sycamore really has two names – the other being the Isaac Clymer Farm. Clymer purchased parcels between 1808 and 1818, and by then created the property that to the day makes up the 48-acre tract. The Stone House was completed in 1835 and the property remained in agriculture until 1956.
On 26 March 2025, during the year of the the 190th anniversary of the Stone House completion, the entire property, officially listed as the Isaac Clymer Farm, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The nomination process was months-long and included a presentation before the WV State Culture and History Commission and a few rounds of edits. But that is behind us and we look forward to the year 2035 when the house celebrates its 200th anniversary.
