Shopping
For those of you who get nervous being too far away from the perfect shopping experience – we have you covered. There are destinations for every interest. We can point you to classic small town hardware stores (complete with squeaky wooden floors), to pharmacies that still run a soda counter, to some of the best antique hunting in the region. All located with an easy hour’s drive of here. For the serious shopper, the ultimate destination is probably the Prime Outlets at Hagerstown, Maryland. If it’s the standard big box shopping you’re interested in, each of the cities in the surrounding area have plenty of retail shopping. You name the store and we’ll point you in the right direction.

Farmer’s Markets
There are two municipal farmers markets nearby, and a variety of small farms and orchards that sell direct to consumers. Charles Town has a farmers market that runs from 9 am through noon on Saturdays during the growing season. Shepherstown’s Market is on Sundays and runs from 9 am through 1 pm. Both feature locally grown produce, local meats and cheeses, and other value-added products made from local ingredients. Out on US 340 next to the flea market is Wilt’s Fruit Stand – an operation that has been selling seasonal fruit and vegetables for over 40 years.

Another option is to investigate the wineries in Virginia’s piedmont. Several wineries outside Hillsboro, Virginia are less than 30 minutes from here. All offer on-site sales and wine tasting.

We will be closed from Sunday 17 December through Friday 5 January for the winter holidays. Enjoy this season!
